Job Summary
Provide direct care for students and staff by managing injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions while administering medications and monitoring side effects. Maintain accurate records of immunizations, allergies, and health histories in compliance with state and federal regulations. Develop Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for students with specific medical needs and coordinate required screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis. Monitor for communicable disease outbreaks and serve as a resource on health, hygiene, and wellness for staff, students, and families. Communicate regularly with parents regarding health concerns and collaborate with administrators and external providers. Uphold strict confidentiality standards and ensure the health office remains stocked and compliant. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required; base salary is commensurate with qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification
- Understanding of Texas state health requirements for school-aged children
- Ability to manage and support students across a wide age range (PK3–12)
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication abilities
- Occasional evening or weekend work
- Must be comfortable navigating a school campus and responding to a variety of operational issues
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing
