Job Summary
School Nurse collaborates with the Principal and health services team to coordinate and provide mandated health screenings, manage acute and chronic illnesses, administer medications and physician-ordered treatments, maintain health records, develop health care plans for students with special needs, and educate students and families on health topics. Responsibilities include documenting nursing assessments and interventions, ensuring immunization status, facilitating referrals, maintaining student health files, and supporting health needs during travel between Universal Schools as needed. Must be a Certified School Nurse or RN/LPN with a BSN preferred, CPR/AED certified, and possess required clearances and Act 48 continuing education. Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills are essential to collaborate with parents, administrators, health care providers, and community resources.
Required Qualifications
- Certified School Nurse or Licensed as RN or LPN
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
- CPR/AED certification
- Background/experience preferred in pediatric nursing, community health nursing, critical care nursing, medical-surgical nursing and/or emergency room nursing
- Knowledge of current Child Abuse Law
- Required Act 48 continuing education coursework for Nursing license
- Required State and Federal clearances
