School Nurse (Temporary)

Job Summary
Assist students, faculty, and staff with illness or injury, including urgent care for headaches, fevers, musculoskeletal issues, and gastrointestinal upset. Monitor and respond emergently to chronic conditions like anaphylaxis, seizures, diabetes, asthma, or cardiac events. Coordinate with parents for education, follow-up care, or early pickup, and dispense prescribed medications while supervising treatment regimens. Document all visits in the electronic medical record system and maintain protected health information. Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and school leaders to identify and meet social, emotional, and physical student needs. Initiate contact with community health agencies and act as a liaison between home, school, and providers. Maintain confidentiality regarding all health-related issues and follow school procedures and guidelines. This full-time, 3- to 4-month position begins January 2027 and requires an active North Carolina nursing license.
Required Qualifications
- Must have and maintain an active nursing license to practice in North Carolina
- Must be able to meet physical requirements for the school nurse
- Confidentiality is a must
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment, set a good example and comply with school standards
- Should be willing and able to use electronic health records
Desired Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Nursing is preferred but not required
- Prior experience in pediatrics is preferred but not required
