Job Summary
The School Nurse coordinates health and safety for students in a residential/school program in Walpole, MA, managing a comprehensive school health program, supervising staff, training on medication administration, coordinating immunizations and health screenings, maintaining health records, and communicating with parents and outside agencies. Responsibilities include preparing medications, training staff in medical procedures, ensuring compliance with MA DESE/MDPH regulations, monitoring health needs across all locations, and providing 24/7 medical emergency coverage. Requires MA RN license, Bachelor’s in Nursing, at least two years of nursing experience including supervision, CPR/First Aid/Safety Care, and a valid driver’s license. Familiarity with MA DESE licensing, school health services orientation, and healthcare documentation is expected, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and SNAP Nursing software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts; DESE School Nurse license a plus
- LPN considered at negotiated rate with MA certification and autism population experience
- Minimum of two years’ nursing experience including general nursing, supervision and staff training
- CPR, First Aid, Safety Care certifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Completion of an orientation program on school health services through MA Department of Public Health
- Duties include health and safety monitoring, medication administration and training, health program management in line with MA regulations
- Experience with health records (paper and electronic) and confidentiality
- Coordinate health services across residential and school locations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, SNAP Nursing software
- Ability to provide medical emergency coverage 7 days per week
