Job Summary
Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate health needs for students while serving as the direct link between physicians, families, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care. Provide instruction and counseling to students, parents, and staff regarding health-related issues, adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and state regulations. Safeguard medications and confidential medical information while adapting methods to individual student needs. Maintain consistent attendance in a noisy, active school environment and perform other duties as necessary to support the district's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Missouri registered professional nurse license
- Current certification in CPR/AED
- At least two (2) years' of experience
- Bachelor's in Science Nursing
- Professional and friendly demeanor
- Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment
- Read, comprehend, and produce written and oral instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Communicate one-on-one and in small groups
- Present information effectively and respond to questions
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent listening skills
- Add, subtract multiply and divide using units of American money, weight, volume and distance
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
- Solve a variety of problems in many different situations
- Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Demonstrate executive functions such as planning, organizing, remembering, and regulating information and behavior as they pertain to student performance and achievement
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students and colleagues
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Safeguard medications and confidential medical information
- Identify needs and abilities of individual children and adapt methods accordingly
- Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use
- Frequently stand, stoop, bend and kneel
- Read handwritten or printed material
- Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Grasp, hold, and demonstrate finger dexterity
- Reach and raise arms above shoulders and head
- Must have both close and distance vision
- Consistent and regular attendance
