School Nurse – Part-Time / Per Diem

Job Summary
Provide acute and chronic health care, first aid, and urgent interventions to students in the Wellness Center using standing orders and protocols. Manage chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy while maintaining electronic health records and student confidentiality. Communicate professionally with parents, coaches, and school staff regarding healthcare needs. Cover scheduled evening shifts from 3pm to 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays, with flexibility to work additional weekday evenings as staffing requires. Maintain a service attitude in a fast-paced boarding school environment while supporting the school's mission.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- current license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania
- CPR certified
- working knowledge base of EpiPen administration
- Blood Borne Pathogen protocol
- Narcan administration
- ability to perform physical tasks essential to the nursing role
- Visual acuity to type, read, and recognize students
- Hearing ability to communicate with co-workers, students, and parents in person and via telephone
- Knowledge in Adolescent Health
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
- Knowledge of the Hill School and community served
- Ability to implement and maintain electronic health records on students
- Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, students, faculty, and families
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships while also working independently and collegially with all members of the Wellness Center Team
- Publicly support the mission and vision of The Hill School in a positive and professional manner
- Work as a dynamic team member in a professional collaborative environment
- Energetic and organized enough to thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Ability to wear many hats, learn new things every day, and have the ability to switch from a variety of roles with ease and excitement
- Communicate effectively with warmth, sensitivity, humor, and understanding
- Possess a service attitude - willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the department and school
- Background checks, including criminal history background checks, fingerprint-based background checks, reference checks, employment history checks, and educational background checks
Desired Qualifications
- BSN
- background in pediatric, adolescent, public health and/or School Nursing
- Experience and demonstrated success working with diverse student communities
