Job Summary
Provide direct nursing care for students with acute illnesses and injuries, administering medications and treatments per physician orders. Assess, evaluate, and respond to student health concerns while developing and monitoring Individualized Healthcare Plans for chronic conditions. Conduct health screenings, monitor immunization compliance, and promote healthy lifestyles through education and wellness initiatives. Respond to medical emergencies on campus, coordinate EMS, and participate in emergency preparedness drills. Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, teachers, and administrators to ensure student health needs are met. Maintain accurate, confidential health records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- School Nurse certification
- Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent health
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to respond calmly during emergencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and community healthcare providers
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and assist students during emergencies
- Ability to perform CPR and other emergency medical procedures
- Ability to work in a school environment with frequent interruptions
