Job Summary
Monitor and support students in medical waiting areas until parents or emergency contacts pick them up, escort students to and from the health office, and assist with activities of daily living for all children. Promote and maintain optimal physical and emotional health while supporting multi-handicapped and medically fragile classroom needs. Maintain health records, document pertinent information, and assist with data entry while ensuring confidentiality of student medical issues. Work under the supervision of the school nurse to support the school health office functions during the 2026-2027 school year.
Required Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts State License for LPN
- CPR certification
- License/degree from accredited program for LPN
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Ability to use good judgment and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing others
- Ability to respect confidential matters
- Traits of resourcefulness, thoroughness, initiative, patience, courtesy, dependability, and enthusiasm
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to move in and out of office, classrooms, buildings, and up and down stairs
- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer
- Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
- Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
- Strength to lift and/or carry materials/items/persons weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance
Desired Qualifications
- One year of experience as an LPN preferred
- Prior experience with children in a school or similar setting
