Job Summary
Provide direct patient care for first aid, urgent, and emergent needs to students, staff, and visitors across campuses; administer daily and emergency medications according to policies and physician orders; manage care for students with gastrostomy tube feedings, urinary catheterizations, tracheostomy care and suction, and ostomy care; maintain student health records and immunizations; conduct state-mandated screenings and implement/update Individualized Health Care Plans; collaborate with principals, school counselors, teachers, parents, food service, and others to support health needs; participate in ARD meetings and work with Special Education staff on IEP-related health care; train faculty/staff on health topics and supervise unlicensed staff; follow physician orders to administer medications; follow up with physicians to clarify orders; provide privacy and confidentiality in care and documentation; maintain CPR/First Aid certifications and ongoing professional development; ensure effective communication and coordination with health services and school teams.
Required Qualifications
- Completion/Graduation from accredited RN or LVN program
- Active Texas RN or LVN license
- Must have an active RN or LVN license in Texas
- Critical thinking for triage and emergency response
- Experience caring for patients with seizures, diabetes, gastrostomy tube feedings, tracheostomy and suctioning, urinary catheterization
- Ability to administer medications by various routes per physician orders
- CPR and First Aid certifications (or equivalent)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient keyboarding and computer/documentation skills
- Ability to walk, run, and bend; able to lift up to 20 lbs
- Minimum one year direct patient care experience in hospital or long-term care facility
- Pediatric experience preferred
