Job Summary
Monitor, evaluate, and treat minor physical and medical conditions of students while administering prescription drugs and maintaining legal documentation. Conduct periodic vision, hearing, scoliosis, blood pressure, and head lice screenings, then refer students with problems to parents. Develop Individual Health Care Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Health Care Plans (EHPs) for children with special needs. Instruct students in proper health practices, including nutrition and exercise, and communicate with parents regarding their children's health. Administer Hepatitis B vaccines to approved personnel and conduct annual Blood borne Pathogen Training. Prepare daily logs, immunization records, accident reports, and submit required state reports to DHEC. Treat staff medical conditions as needed on an emergency basis. Maintain confidentiality of student and staff data, order health room supplies, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Nursing from and accredited
- current state licensure as RN or LPN
- CPR/AED certifications
- First Aid certifications
Desired Qualifications
- two years of recent nursing experience
- previous experience in pediatric nursing
- previous experience in community health nursing
- previous experience in school nursing
