Job Summary
RN (School Nurse) responsible for overseeing the individual health needs of students; implementing student health care plans and physician orders; ensuring district health care practices comply with applicable laws; providing care for ill or injured students; and serving as a health care resource to teachers, staff, and administrators. Administers first aid, conducts health screenings and immunization reporting; maintains up-to-date health records; develops Individual Health Care Plans and Emergency Action Plans; educates staff on health care plans; collaborates with parents, students, health care providers, and agencies; participates in IEP/504 meetings; completes UAP training when applicable; communicates health-related issues to administrators; ensures EMS readiness; adheres to SC Nurse Practice Act and board guidelines; requires ongoing professional growth through nursing continuing education; performs duties under limited supervision, with travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current, valid unrestricted licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina
- CPR/AED certification
- Bachelor's degree or higher not explicitly required by posting but licensure is required; nurse with SC license and willingness to meet requirements
- Minimum of two years’ nursing experience in pediatrics, school nursing, public health nursing, or emergency/critical care nursing preferred
- Must maintain current CPR/BLS certification
- May be required to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
- TB test results required prior to employment
- Nursing License and BLS certification
- Knowledge of South Carolina Nurse Practice Act and related standards
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality
