Job Summary
Provide medical assessments and treatments to students and staff daily, utilizing the nursing process for direct care procedures including medication administration and monitoring. Collaborate with parents and physicians to develop Individual Healthcare Plans for students with chronic or acute conditions while promoting wellness through health teaching and counseling. Manage school health records, identify environmental hazards, and assist in evaluating students for special education services. Participate in emergency action plans and complete required health screenings, adhering to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Requires a Registered Nurse license and experience.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse License from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professionals
- experience as a registered nurse
- valid state driver's license
- acceptable driving history
- ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, and to perform required tasks
- ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
- ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly
- physical agility to lift 25 to 50 pounds
- ability to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead
