Job Summary
Provide health services to a PK-12 student population, maintain and verify immunizations and health records, and promote health and safety for students and staff. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a school health program, maintaining emergency care cards, submitting required reports to administrators and health authorities, collaborating with principals on attendance-related health concerns, authorizing readmission/exclusion after illness, serving as a health resource to instructors, evaluating injury reports, acting in the absence of a physician for student/staff care, reviewing/publishing health-related Board policies, supporting screening programs (vision, hearing, scoliosis), monitoring communicable disease control, and reporting health service activities to the Superintendent. The role requires adherence to occupational exposure plans for district employees and completion of all other duties as assigned by principals and the Superintendent. The position is hired under a master contract with the work year aligned to the school calendar. The Algona Community School District is an EEO/AA employer.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse License in Iowa
- Health certificate on file
- Child abuse certificate on file
- Certification, experience, other qualifications as determined by the principal and superintendent.
