Job Summary
Perform routine food preparation tasks, including cutting fruits and vegetables, making sandwiches, and stocking work areas. Assist with daily cleaning duties such as mopping, operating dishwashers, and organizing dining areas. Serve students and staff cheerfully while accurately identifying reimbursable meals and monitoring federal guidelines. Safely operate kitchen equipment and set up serving lines per Maricopa County Health Department standards. Verify and monitor HACCP procedures including temperature and sanitizer logs. Maintain courteous relationships with students, staff, and parents while responding to all customers promptly. Travel between campuses as required and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Food Handlers Card
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous experience in food preparation and handling
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers and students
- Must display ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers and students
- Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times
- Travel between campuses is required from time to time
- Local and in-state travel required
- Ability to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion
- Ability to operate standard and specialized kitchen equipment, including convection/combi ovens, microwave ovens, dishwashers, food warmers, coolers and freezers
- Ability to set up a serving line with appropriate serving equipment according to Maricopa County Health Department guidelines
- Ability to assist manager in verifying and monitoring HACCP procedures including temperature, sanitizer and storage logs
- Ability to respond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly and patient manner
- Ability to maintain courteous relationships with students, staff, parents, and community, treating all with respect
- Ability to perform all related duties as required
- Ability to perform all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed
- Ability to function effectively as a team member
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
- Ability to positively accept direction
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to operate institutional equipment preferred
- Previous experience in food preparation and handling preferred
