School Food Service Technician Substitute 2026-2027

Job Summary
Prepare and serve nutritious food and beverages in assigned school kitchens while adhering to Board policy, nutritional requirements, and state regulations. Monitor cooking temperatures, operate equipment safely, and maintain sanitary preparation areas by cleaning tools and sanitizing surfaces. Set up service lines for mealtimes, portion food accurately, and handle USDA commodities according to established procedures. Complete ServSafe training and Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification within 60 days of employment. This 180-day substitute position requires 7.5 hours daily, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of the ninth grade
- Must be able to obtain ServSafe training certification
- Satisfactory completion of Red Cross First Aid Course including CPR within 60 days of employment
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds with assistance
- Must be able to stand or walk up to 7 ½ hours per day
- Must be able to push or pull equipment such as food carts and mop buckets
- Must be able to reach above head
- Must be able to bend and squat when lifting
- Must be able to work in an environment exposed to environmental and temperature extremes, chemicals, and odor
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of food service experience preferred
