Job Summary
Direct or escort pedestrians across streets and stop traffic as needed at designated school crossings during peak hours; communicate crossing rules to students and adults; report unsafe behavior to school officials; inspect intersections daily and report hazards; monitor traffic to identify safe crossing gaps; be aware of emergency vehicles and prioritize their passage; maintain a calm, professional presence and wear required equipment; shifts range from 40 minutes to 2 hours with up to 10 shifts weekly (5 days, 1–2 shifts per day) during the August–June school year; duties include aging and safety compliance, reporting unsafe conditions, and upholding road safety education; rolerequires smartphone with data plan, access to a vehicle is an asset, and PRC reimbursement after 3 months of employment; accommodations available on request,
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License is an asset
- First Aid with CPR C certification is an asset
- Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector - PRC
- Availability to work Monday to Friday (AM and/or PM shifts)
- Ability to walk briskly and stand for up to 2 hours
- Ability to hold Stop Sign Paddle above shoulder height for extended periods
- English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow a schedule
