Job Summary
Provide school-based counseling services to students, including individual and group guidance to support personal-social growth, educational planning, and career development. Responsible for counseling related to student placement, attendance, information dissemination about school offerings and opportunities, administration and interpretation of tests, and coordination of conferences among students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Requires collaboration with district personnel and adherence to program guidelines; duties include developing and adjusting curriculum to meet student needs and providing identification and referral services for emotional, health, and learning concerns. Requires a Master’s degree in Counseling and School Counselor certification, with potential enrollment in an approved preparation program to complete licensure requirements within three years.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling
- Certification as a School Counselor
- Enrollment in an accredited school counselor preparation program with completion of 24 graduate hours (if applicable) or equivalent master’s degree in related field and enrollment to complete school counseling specialization
