Job Summary
School Counselor at Trentwood Elementary (1.0 FTE Continuing) will collaborate with school staff, administration, students, parents/guardians, and the broader East Valley community to foster belonging and support students academically, socially, and emotionally. Responsibilities include leading MTSS, RTI initiatives, PBIS and Restorative Practices, delivering professional development on PBIS/Restorative Practices/RTI, supporting Reset Room and Room Service, contributing to the BECCA and Community Truancy Board programs, participating in a Guiding Coalition, maintaining trauma-informed practices, providing individual and group counseling, advising families on strategies and programs, supporting student transitions with district counselors, communicating high-risk referrals to staff, delivering classroom and parent presentations, promoting PACE Character Education, facilitating family conferences, maintaining student records, and engaging in Professional Learning Communities to use data for student growth. Desired skills emphasize elementary counseling experience, familiarity with Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and the ASCA National Model, knowledge of 504/IDEA implications, effective communication, adaptability, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth. The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and a standard work environment with a focus on confidentiality and adherence to district policies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Washington State ESA School Counselor certificate, with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations
- School Counselor endorsement required
- Successful Washington State Patrol and FBI Fingerprint Clearance
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act
- Completion of all district required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date
