Job Summary
Design a proactive school counseling program aligned with school goals and Ohio standards, delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum through individual, group, and classroom sessions. Provide direct services for academic, career, and social-emotional development, including individual student planning and responsive counseling to support problem-solving. Collaborate with staff, parents, and guardians to coordinate community resources and referrals, while managing orientation and transition programs for student continuity. Monitor student performance and program effectiveness using data to recommend policy changes and lead staff development on intervention strategies. Advocate for equitable, safe learning environments and adhere to ethical standards and mandatory reporting laws. This 184-day exempt role reports to the Building Principal within Leadership & Learning/Student Services.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ohio School Counselor license
- Knowledge of local community resource identification and utilization
- Knowledge of Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES) standards and requirements
- Knowledge of Federal and state laws regarding student privacy, special education, and mandatory reporting
- Knowledge of Career development pathways and post-secondary educational requirements
- Knowledge of Ohio's Social Emotional Learning Standards and competencies
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry over 25 pounds on occasion
- Ability to interact with escalating or unruly student behaviors
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in an educational setting tailored to the building's grade bands (Elementary, Middle, or Secondary/High School level)
