Job Summary
Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing personal, social, academic, and emotional challenges. Develop and implement counseling programs supporting student achievement while conducting assessments to identify needs and create customized intervention plans. Offer crisis intervention for immediate emotional or behavioral challenges and facilitate workshops on mental health and coping strategies. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to advocate for student needs and connect them with appropriate resources. Maintain accurate, confidential records of student interactions and ensure a safe, positive environment for all students.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
- Valid School Counselor Certification
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Cultural awareness and empathy towards students and families
- Critical thinking
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
- Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
- Stand and walk frequently
- Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
- Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
- Withstand a moderate noise level
- Assist/lift students, as necessary
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in school counseling or a similar educational setting
