Job Summary

Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program promoting academic, career, and social-emotional development for K–8 students. Lead the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), analyze attendance and assessment data to identify barriers, and develop targeted interventions. Deliver individual and small-group counseling, facilitate classroom guidance lessons on social-emotional learning and conflict resolution, and coordinate crisis prevention and response services. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to ensure equitable educational opportunities and support student transitions. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and ethical standards while participating in annual program evaluations and professional growth initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling from an accredited institution
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator License in School Counseling issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
  • Knowledge of the North Carolina Professional School Counselor Standards
  • Knowledge of the ASCA National Model
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Knowledge of North Carolina academic standards
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention procedures
  • Knowledge of FERPA, child abuse reporting laws, and ethical standards
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and community agencies
  • Ability to analyze academic, attendance, behavior, and assessment data
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive counseling services
  • Ability to deliver effective classroom guidance lessons
  • Ability to facilitate small-group counseling
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain confidential records
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism
  • Must be able to perform light physical work
  • Must be able to operate computers, office equipment, and instructional technology
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must be able to move throughout the school campus to meet student needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in elementary or middle school settings
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
  • Experience with social-emotional learning programs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
  • Experience using student data to guide interventions
