Job Summary
School Counselor Intern supports a campus-based social emotional learning (SEL) and family engagement program under the guidance of the campus assigned School Counselor. Responsibilities include co-leading the campus vision for family engagement and SEL, providing individual and group counseling for at‐risk students, coordinating student and family events, partnering with grade-level teams to identify and intervene for at‐risk students, directing campus-wide counseling activities, promoting student persistence and new-student integration, and delivering Move This World curriculum with fidelity. The role requires travel across the Rio Grande Valley (20%–30%), on-site work in Weslaco, TX, and the ability to maintain data on outcomes and coordinate with community resources. Educational pursuit of a Master’s degree in School Counseling and related licensure/certification efforts are required; prior school experience and strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Working to obtain Master's degree in School counseling through UTRGV School Counseling Program
- Experience: Previous experience in a school or school setting
- License or Certification: Working to Obtain TX School Counselor Certificate or Mental Health Provider License through UTRGV School Counseling Program
