Job Summary
School Counselor in a high school setting delivering comprehensive guidance services to support students' personal-social development, academic success, and college/career readiness. Responsible for individual and small-group counseling, classroom guidance on study skills and social-emotional learning, data-driven program development, outcome tracking, collaboration with families and school staff, and ensuring adherence to ASCA standards. The role includes crisis awareness and intervention, professional development, and communicating student progress to stakeholders. This position emphasizes equity, data-driven decision making, and alignment with Virginia standards for school counseling.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and completion of an approved school counseling program
- Eligibility for appropriate licensure
- Active LPC license or eligibility; consideration for LPC in lieu of requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education or psychology with approved school counseling program
- Eligibility for appropriate licensure (LPC) in Virginia
- Experience in teaching or school guidance and counseling
- Knowledge of ASCA model and data-driven counseling practices
- Ability to collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and community stakeholders
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
