Job Summary
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the assigned campus. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special population students. Conduct structured group lessons, collaborate with teachers, guide individual students and parents in educational and career planning, provide preventive/remedial/crisis counseling, interpret standardized test results, administer and promote a balanced guidance program, advocate for a diverse school environment, maintain records, and ensure compliance with federal/state policies. Supervise counseling aides as applicable and adhere to safety and professional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in guidance counseling from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas school counseling certificate
- Knowledge of counseling procedures
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
