Job Summary
Implement a comprehensive school counseling program addressing academic, career, and social-emotional development for grades K–5. Provide individual and small group counseling, deliver classroom guidance lessons, and collaborate with teachers to support students facing academic or behavioral challenges. Attend MTSS/Intervention team meetings, manage student records with strict confidentiality, and coordinate with parents and community agencies. Deliver crisis response and intervention as needed while participating in school committees and professional development. Work within Currituck County Schools to foster an inclusive learning environment aligned with the ASCA National Model and North Carolina standards.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field
- North Carolina School Counselor License (or eligibility for licensure)
- Knowledge of child development and counseling strategies for elementary-aged students
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in an elementary school setting
- Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Experience implementing the ASCA National Model
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
