Job Summary
Implement a comprehensive school counseling program addressing academic, career, and social-emotional development for grades K–5. Provide individual and small group counseling while delivering classroom guidance lessons aligned with developmental standards. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify students experiencing academic or behavioral challenges, and attend MTSS/Intervention team meetings to assist with student support plans. Deliver crisis response and intervention when necessary, maintaining appropriate student records and confidentiality. Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student needs and coordinate with outside agencies and community resources. Participate in school committees, professional development, and school improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field
- North Carolina School Counselor License (or eligibility for licensure)
- Knowledge of child development and counseling strategies for elementary-aged students
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in an elementary school setting
- Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Experience implementing the ASCA National Model
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
