Job Summary
CAPS Collaborative seeks a School Counselor at Newton North High School to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The counselor provides academic advisory, formal and informal career and guidance counseling, creates transition assessments and reports, supports college applications and accommodations, collaborates with families, teachers, and external agencies, and contributes to IEP processes. Responsibilities include monitoring academic and social progress, linking students to post-secondary plans, delivering SEL programming, data maintenance for compliance, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative classroom environment. Requires MA Educator Licensure eligibility and a Master's in Counseling or related field, plus ASL and English fluency. Three years experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Massachusetts Educator License in Special Education, Guidance, Social Work, School Adjustment Counselor, or state licensure in Rehabilitation Counseling with eligibility for MA Educator Licensure
- Master's Degree in Counseling or related field
- Three (3) years successful experience supporting students who are deaf and hard of hearing preferred.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
