Job Summary
The School Counsellor is responsible for providing support to students within the South Shore Regional Centre for Education. The Teacher will work within the Inclusive Education Policy framework by participating in individualized program planning with school staff and families to maximize learning experiences for students. Requirements include a Valid NS teaching license, Elementary Endorsement, and a Master’s degree in Counselling or Counselling Psychology. The role emphasizes MTSS framework, Universal Design for Learning, culturally responsive pedagogy, collaboration with student planning and teaching support teams, strong communication and confidential record-keeping, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders. Security checks (Child Abuse Register Check and Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Checks) are required for new hires. Applicants should apply online with resume and 3 references. Required Qualifications
- Valid NS teaching license
- Elementary Endorsement
- Master’s degree in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or equivalent
- Proven ability to work as a contributing member of Student Planning Teams and Teaching Support Teams
- Excellent communication (written, oral, and electronic), problem solving, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Promote and maintain confidentiality regarding records and documentation.
