Job Summary
Deliver child-focused, therapeutic counselling to students using developmentally appropriate evidence-based models of intervention. Conduct thorough intake processes with parents or guardians to listen to concerns and establish active involvement. Provide group work activities in collaboration with CatholicCare staff and external organizations while regularly liaising with teachers and principals. Offer students opportunities to participate in setting goals and make appropriate referrals to external sources as required. This part-time fixed-term role runs until December 2027 with the possibility of extension, offering salary packaging and continuous clinical supervision. The position supports CatholicCare's mission to improve individual, family, and community wellbeing across Tasmania's primary and secondary schools.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience and training in therapeutic counselling for children and young people
- Sound understanding of the principles and theories that underpin the impact of family violence on women, children, men and family functioning
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of safeguarding frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in working autonomously, exercising considerable initiative, discretion and professional judgement and accept personal responsibility within the full scope of the role
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline
- Post graduate qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years experience in a similar role
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration
- Eligible to work in Australia
- Evidence of registration to Work with Vulnerable People
- Police Check
