Job Summary
School Certifying Official (SCO) / Veterans Benefits Coordinator role focusing on ensuring VA compliance and processing enrollment certifications. Responsible for evaluating student schedules and degree audits, submitting enrollment certifications to the VA, maintaining knowledge of VA education benefit chapters (e.g., Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, VR&E), advising student veterans on benefit eligibility and required paperwork, tracking academic progress and reporting changes to the VA, and collaborating with Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and Academic Advising to maintain complete student files and reporting standards. Requires a Bachelor's degree and 2–3 years in higher education with experience in VA enrollment processes (VA-ONCE or Enrollment Manager preferred), strong communication, and commitment to secure handling of confidential data.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2–3 years of experience in higher education
- preferably within a Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, or Veterans Affairs department or related experience
- Direct, hands-on experience using VA-ONCE or the modern VA Enrollment Manager system is strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage confidential data securely
- Ability to handle high-volume periods around academic terms
