Job Summary
Maintain a reasonable level of good behavior by children on the bus, minivan, van, or car. Enforce safety rules by ensuring students remain seated, do not harm themselves or others, and do not eat on the vehicle. Recognize dangerous situations affecting child safety and report them immediately to the bus driver. After each school run, assist the driver in performing a spot inspection to confirm all children have exited. Assist in buckling children or operating safety equipment per regulations and help evacuate passengers during emergencies. Provide directions to the driver based on the pre-determined route sheet. Maintain the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform vehicle inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening, including state and national criminal background checks, registry checks, drug testing, and any other screenings required by law, Connecticut DMV, school district policy, or DATTCO policy.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to enter and exit the vehicle repeatedly and perform required vehicle inspections.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and use vehicle safety equipment.
- Ability to assist passengers during boarding, exiting, and emergency evacuations.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a classroom or working with students.
