Job Summary
Maintain good behavior among students on school buses, vans, or cars by enforcing safety rules such as remaining seated, not harming others, and avoiding eating on the bus. Recognize dangerous situations and report them immediately to the driver. After each route, assist with spot inspections to confirm all children are off the vehicle, help buckle students and safety equipment, and support emergency evacuations. Provide directions to the driver using the pre-determined route sheet. Complete required pre-employment screenings including criminal background checks, registry checks, and drug testing. This role offers split shifts for AM and PM routes with potential for additional hours, weekends off, and school holiday breaks.
Required Qualifications
- Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening, including state and national criminal background checks, registry checks, drug testing, and any other screenings required by law, Connecticut DMV, school district policy, or DATTCO policy.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to enter and exit the vehicle repeatedly and perform required vehicle inspections.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and use vehicle safety equipment.
- Ability to assist passengers during boarding, exiting, and emergency evacuations.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a classroom or working with students.
