Job Summary
School Bus Driver with Lee’s Summit School District — responsible for safely transporting students on scheduled routes and field trips, maintaining student safety, conducting pre-trip inspections, and adhering to district and state transportation policies. Requires memorizing student names, enforcing behavior guidelines, safe operation of a school bus, proper loading/unloading, and effective communication with teachers, administrators, parents, and staff. Training includes licensing, district on-site instruction, and ongoing safety and driving requirements; benefits eligibility possible after completing training for full-time status.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Job related experience is required
- Commercial Driver’s License Class B with endorsement for Passenger Vehicles, School Bus endorsement and Air Brake
- CPR/First Aid
- Pre-employment Physical Exam
- Pre-employment Drug Screening
- Background Clearance
- Annual district and state training requirements
- Defensive driving program
- Annual behavior management training
- FMCSA requirements
- Ability to operate district vehicles
- Knowledge of safety practices and faultless record keeping
