Job Summary
Drive a school bus on designated routes while proactively recruiting and training new applicants to become drivers. Provide classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training to ensure successful completion of testing, and administer random and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing programs. Conduct regularly scheduled safety meetings, investigate customer service complaints regarding safety, and respond to personal injury or vehicle accidents by preparing on-scene investigation reports. Deliver ongoing training and performance evaluations for all driver employees, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Maintain a safe transportation environment for students while holding valid PA Class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a school bus driver with a safe driving record
- Meets all Pennsylvania school bus driver requirements, including required physical and background checks
- Possess all valid applicable state licenses to operate company vehicles
- Valid PA Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (no air brake restriction)
- Possess all valid applicable state required certifications to train and evaluate school bus drivers
- Pennsylvania School Bus Driver Instructor certification
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to student transportation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
Desired Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
