Job Summary
Drive school buses on designated routes while proactively recruiting and training new and existing drivers to become qualified School Bus Drivers. Deliver classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training, administer random drug and alcohol testing programs, and conduct regular safety meetings. Investigate personal injury accidents and customer service complaints, preparing reports to the corporate office and taking corrective action. Provide ongoing performance evaluations for all driver employees and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Maintain a safe transportation environment for students while holding a valid CDL with P and S endorsements and ISBE School Bus Driver Instructor certification.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a school bus driver
- Possess all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement
- Valid Illinois School Bus Permit (SBP) for the corresponding division required
- Possess all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to train and evaluate school bus driver
- ISBE School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) certification required
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to student transportation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
Desired Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
