Job Summary
Drive school buses safely and efficiently for students, adhering to all Federal, State, and Local laws while maintaining an orderly atmosphere. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, keeping vehicles clean and reporting any repairs or vandalism promptly. Maintain the prescribed service schedule, picking up and discharging students only at authorized stops, and transport only authorized passengers. Report incidents of misconduct in writing to the principal and attend all safety meetings and workshops. Complete all required reports and time schedules accurately. Model a positive attitude and maintain cordial relationships with students, parents, co-workers, and administrators.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver's License with endorsements
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity
- Hearing and understanding speech at normal levels
- Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly
- Physical agility to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead
- Physical ability to move within the confines of the bus in order to provide assistance to students
- Meet all DOT, DOE, Commonwealth of Virginia and Bedford County requirements for driving a school bus
