Job Summary
Safely transport students on regular, spare, or charter routes using buses with manual or automatic transmissions. Read and follow route sheets/maps; conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; assist students with loading/unloading including wheelchair lifts; maintain student management and safety; communicate with school personnel, parents, and students; attend safety and training meetings; conduct emergency evacuations when needed; clean the bus interior and exterior; perform other duties as required by contract; adhere to OSHA guidelines and company policies; demonstrate good verbal communication and the ability to work early morning hours; operate with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Operator’s license with required endorsements & other state or local permits as required
- Good verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work early morning hours
- Must be able to work without direct supervision
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks
- Ability to read street signs, route sheets and maps
- Able to assist students in loading/unloading including wheelchair lift
- Professional and respectful attitude toward employees and customers
- Follow OSHA guidelines and applicable laws
- Use or learn to use internet and office equipment as required
