Job Summary
Operate a school bus on assigned routes delivering safe, reliable transportation for students while complying with DOT and school district regulations; conduct vehicle inspections; maintain route sheets and adhere to time/mileage standards; supervise student behavior and protect confidentiality of student information; complete required paperwork and certifications; participate in safety trainings and recertifications.
Required Qualifications
- Must be the required state age and possess a valid commercial driver’s license with a valid school bus endorsement.
- Must meet physical qualifications for school bus physical with or without state approved waivers.
- Must have a satisfactory motor vehicle record, criminal history record and child abuse history record.
- Ability to safely operate large commercial vehicles.
- Ability to read English and understand traffic signs and signals, road maps, and route schedules.
- Must successfully complete skills and classroom recertification training as required.
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior in a non-confrontational manner.
- Ability to manage vehicle and student emergencies in calm, appropriate manner.
