School Bus Driver

Job Summary
Operate school transportation vessels to transport students safely along approved routes; maintain safety protocols, complete required forms, report incidents/delays, and comply with Ohio Administrative Code and district policies. Must hold valid Ohio Driver's License, Class B CDL with P and S endorsements (or willingness to obtain), pass background checks and mandatory medical and fraud-prevention training, and meet physical requirements. Contract role with 3.5 hours/day, potential extra hours, paid sick leave, personal days, health coverage, and attendance bonus potential. Starting contracted rate is $20.78/hour for the 2026-2027 school year, with annual step increases per negotiated agreement; duties include daily pre-trip sheets, reporting unruly students, and coordination with transportation supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Valid Class B CDL with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements or willingness to obtain
- Negative pre-employment drug screen; must comply with random testing thereafter
- Meet or exceed physical qualifications (Rule 3301-83-07)
- Successful completion of T-8 physical for school bus drivers
- Background checks: favorable state (BCII) and FBI; new report required every 6 years
- Enroll in Ohio RAPBACK system through the Department of Education
- Complete Ohio Auditor of State Fraud Reporting and Training
- Annual performance evaluations per board policy
- Obey all transportation management policies under Ohio Administrative Code 3301-83-08
- Report delays, accidents, and unruly students per guidelines
- Maintain pre-trip safety/d condition sheets
- Report to Transportation Supervisor and Building Administrator as required
- Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and ethics requirements
- Possess or obtain endorsements for school bus operation
- Meet the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Health care insurance available per negotiated agreement
- Paid time: sick leave, personal days; attendance bonus potentially up to $2400
