Job Summary
Conduct daily bus routes following planned schedules to transport students to and from school while observing all safety regulations and DOT inspection protocols. Maintain discipline on board, communicate route updates and delays via two-way radio with the dispatcher, and report all accidents or mechanical failures. Keep the assigned vehicle clean and ensure students are discharged only at authorized stops. Exercise responsible leadership during out-of-district trips and transport only authorized students and staff. Submit written records of student code violations and complete required reports for all incidents. Perform pre and post-operation mechanical inspections before and after each shift.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must pass drug screen and physical exam in accordance with Department of Transportation requirements.
- Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract specific Bus Driver requirements.
- Walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 45lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting while operating the bus.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous bus driving experience is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
- Excelled interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
