Job Summary
Follow assigned routes and adhere to established schedules while operating school buses to transport students and authorized personnel. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, keep vehicles fueled and clean, and report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical failures immediately. Manage student attendance, ensure safe boarding and alighting, instruct students on riding rules, and maintain discipline while communicating with teachers and parents. Observe all traffic laws, maintain emergency equipment, and install snow chains during inclement weather. Compile required reports and communicate regularly with the transportation office. Maintain a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License, School Bus Driving Safety certificate, and current medical physical. Operate during irregular hours as needed and ensure safety certification remains current through required training.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License
- Outstanding driving record
- Valid Texas School Bus Driving Safety certificate
- Up to date medical physical
- Knowledge of highway and school bus regulations
- Knowledge of how to deal with the various needs of children
