Job Summary
School Bus Driver transports students to and from school and school-related activities using up to an 84-passenger bus, including routes that may involve students with physical disabilities. Requires operating large school buses, maintaining student safety and discipline, performing pre-trip inspections, and reporting issues to supervisors. Training is provided to obtain CDL; candidates should be prepared for a driving role with responsibilities across regular, special needs, and activity routes, along with routine administrative duties such as maintaining records and communicating with parents and teachers. Additional duties include assisting students with entry/exit, including wheelchair lifts, and ensuring safe transport under varying conditions. The position emphasizes safe operation, student engagement, knowledge of traffic devices, and readiness to learn district policies.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and sufficient education to comprehend and apply motor vehicle operation laws and district student transportation policies and procedures.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Training provided to help you obtain this certification.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain following a period of training, licenses necessary for operating a school bus.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain following a period of training, first aid card and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation card.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (applicant agrees to assume cost upon offer of employment).
