School-Based Support Specialist (Chillicothe)

Job Summary

Deliver individualized behavioral health interventions aligned with treatment goals in a school-based setting while supporting students in building coping skills and improving social-emotional functioning. Partner with schools, families, and community providers to ensure coordinated care, manage a caseload with timely documentation, and conduct home visits to strengthen engagement. Provide crisis intervention, follow-up support, and outreach when needed, adapting to evolving student needs through collaboration and flexibility. Assist with quality assurance efforts, data tracking, and program compliance. This role supports the Chillicothe School District's mission to promote resilience and recovery for youth, offering HRSA loan repayment eligibility and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • Understanding of case management, rehabilitation, and treatment planning in behavioral health
  • Knowledge of challenges impacting youth with mental health and/or substance use needs
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners
  • Strong communication skills, including documentation and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to manage time effectively and coordinate services across multiple systems
  • Comfort using electronic health records and standard office technology
  • Strong initiative with a commitment to high-quality, person-centered care
  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in crisis situations
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field plus 2 years of relevant behavioral health experience
  • Any 4-year combination of higher education and 2 years of qualifying experience
  • Associate's degree in Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support
  • 4 years of full-time qualifying experience
  • Providing individual or group services focused on recovery and resiliency
  • Teaching coping and life skills
  • Supporting success in school, community, or employment settings
  • Implementing treatment plan objectives
