Job Summary
Observe licensed physical therapists supporting mobility, positioning, postural control, transfers, adaptive equipment use, therapeutic exercise, and participation in educational routines within a specialized school for children and young adults with brain-based disabilities. Gain an interdisciplinary understanding of the physical therapist's role, learn how examination findings and functional goals guide intervention, and introduce adaptive seating, standing, gait, and mobility equipment. This observation-only experience excludes hands-on treatment, independent transfer assistance, or clinical decision-making. Located in Downstate New York and Northern New Jersey, YAI serves over 20,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy.
