Job Summary
School Based Instructional Coach – Elementary Math role to support teachers in math instruction, with responsibilities including coaching and modeling mathematics instruction, facilitating schoolwide math professional learning, using data to differentiate instruction, and collaborating with principal and faculty to plan and implement strategies to raise K-5 mathematics achievement. Requires Alabama elementary education certification and a master's degree (or equivalent professional development), at least five years of elementary math teaching experience, and experience with math curriculum development and professional learning. The position emphasizes evidence-based instructional strategies, joint planning and debriefing, data analysis of student work, and mentorship of teachers. Term of employment is 10.5 months with salary placement on current schedule and no relocation requirement specified.
Required Qualifications
- A valid Alabama certificate in elementary education
- Master’s degree or completion of professional development recommended by the Elementary Task Force (or both)
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in the elementary math classroom
- Math professional learning experiences such as AMSTI Foundational, Math Content Training, and/or OGAP
- Knowledge of, and experience in, math curriculum development
- Experience in facilitating professional learning opportunities and/or teacher training
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with an emphasis in best practices
- Proficient in computer usage
