Job Summary
School Based Behavioral Health Specialist provides case management and coordination of behavioral health services for children and families in telehealth, outpatient offices, and community-based settings. Responsibilities include monitoring symptoms and treatment response, coordinating community resources and referrals, crisis intervention planning, arranging appointments to address physical and mental health needs, reviewing evaluations to support individualized treatment plans, attending team meetings and trainings, maintaining confidential documentation, and maintaining ongoing supervision and collaboration with treatment professionals. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to navigate the behavioral health system, and capability to engage clients therapeutically, with flexibility to work across varying schedules. The position emphasizes advocacy, integration of services, and support to families, with an emphasis on documentation, compliance, and collaboration with county agencies and service providers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years relevant experience in behavioral health skills
- Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, and impact on functioning
- Understanding of de-escalation techniques
- Understanding of mental health system; access to client records and documentation policies
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with safe driving record and insurance
- Successfully complete pre-employment screenings (drug tests, background checks)
- Ability to work days, evenings, and/or weekends as needed
- Proficiency with Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and electronic health records
