Job Summary
Supervise students during meal, recess, and enrichment periods while directing classroom and outdoor playground activities into safe zones. Assist teachers in maintaining order, communicate with learners to motivate participation, and administer basic first aid as needed. Prepare meals, perform cleanup tasks, and handle incidental housekeeping duties such as cleaning tables, chairs, and work areas. Recognize hazards, report safety concerns, and apply judgment when executing oral or written instructions. Work independently and within a team environment in a fast-paced setting, adhering to public education laws and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Maintain professional appearance and maturity, which establishes a desirable example for students
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
- Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of Voices Academies with a deep commitment to improving the lives of students from low-income communities
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment; working efficiently, and exercising excellent judgment in making decisions
- Works well in a fast-paced environment
- Regular requirement to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional evening and or weekend work
- Occasional travel
- Willingness to be trained as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of general needs and behavior of children
- Know basic first aid
- Appropriate safety precautions and procedures
- Knowledge of and experience working with low-income communities preferred
- Able to excel in an ethnic and socioeconomic diverse inner city community
