Job Summary
Monitor student arrival, dismissal, and hallway transitions while administering discipline per the school's code and local regulations. Provide management support to staff by modeling research-based behavior interventions and collaborating with the RAD team to ensure consistent restorative justice and PBIS practices. Recognize safety issues and follow procedures for disruptive or dangerous behavior. Support administrative tasks including student records, documentation, data entry, attendance tracking, and family phone calls. Collaborate with the School Operations team to execute school events and celebrations.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of experience working with adolescents or high school students in a school setting or other youth-serving organization
- Track record of effectively navigating conflict and working with young people who may be experiencing challenges inside and outside of the school environment
- Experience maintaining confidentiality and using good judgment in support of students and families as well as compliance with Innovation policy and local, state, and federal regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of effective behavior management strategies
- Strong organizational skills and time management
- Frequently moves or transports equipment and inventory weighing up to 50 pounds
- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required
Desired Qualifications
- Training in PBIS, restorative practices, youth mental first aid, or non-violent verbal and physical crisis intervention techniques is preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification is preferred
- Deeply held belief in the power of diversity and community; An assets-based orientation to students, families, community, and staff, and a commitment to a school environment that fosters and respects the voices and opinions of students
- Belief in the importance of holistic support for young people, including restorative practices to strengthen relationships, and a full-service community school approach to meet the wide-ranging needs of students and families
- Passion for and commitment to Innovation's core values of collaboration, tolerance, respect, activism, safety, and innovation
- Spanish language skills are preferred
- Up-to-date fingerprint clearance from NYSED in TEACH is preferred
