Job Summary
The School Age Site Administrator at the Western YMCA is responsible for addressing the emotional, cognitive, social, and physical needs of children in a group setting. This role includes supervising site activities, providing daily care and support, and implementing age-appropriate classroom activities. Essential responsibilities involve effective communication with parents and staff, maintaining safety and cleanliness, documenting children's progress, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Candidates must have relevant educational qualifications, experience working with children, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive environment for youth development.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent recognized by DOE
- 12 college or university credits in related fields or school-age bundle qualification
- Six months experience working with children kindergarten through sixth grade
- Successful completion of a physical & tuberculosis screening
- Comprehensive criminal history, child abuse & adult abuse background check
Desired Qualifications
- Multi-lingual skills
- Prior experience working with youth in a group setting
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops
- Knowledge of early childhood/school age education programs and techniques
- Knowledge of child development theory and practice
- Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
Additional Requirements
- Preference will be given to candidates who can work either 5 mornings, 5 afternoons or both
