Job Summary
Deliver school-age programs at CBMM and in classrooms, greeting and orienting school groups to campus to facilitate positive learning experiences. Assist with outreach initiatives including teacher workshops, Educator Open Houses, and children's programming such as classes, camps, and festivals. Work Monday through Friday during the school day as a part-time, hourly position with a flexible schedule. Maintain physical ability to work with students across the 18-acre campus, exhibits, boats, and docks in varied weather conditions. Foster a positive learning environment while supporting the museum's mission to double the number of school children served annually.
Required Qualifications
- Enthusiastic, adaptable, and effective teacher who enjoys working with children from preschool to high school
- Experience teaching children of various ages in formal or informal learning environments
- Ability to foster positive work relationships with CBMM staff, superiors, and volunteers, and problem solve and respond positively and calmly to program changes
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to work with students on CBMM's 18-acre campus, exhibits, boats, and docks, in varied weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in education, museum studies, history, environmental science, or related field desirable
- Familiarity with formal and informal learning theory, Common Core and Maryland State Curriculum standards preferred
